Mahindra XUV300 is the second highest selling sub-4m SUV in India
Mahindra's latest offering, the XUV300 has been received quite well by the Indian audiences as the company has raked in 26,000 bookings for the SUV. Launched in February this year, the Mahindra XUV300 was priced at Rs 7.90 lakh for the base petrol version and the price range goes up to Rs 11.99 for the top of the line, W8 option diesel version. Importantly, the Mahindra XUV300 has also become the second highest selling selling sub-4m SUV beating the Tata Nexon. The Mahindra XUV300 is available in three variants and it is the top-end variant that has attracted maximum traction accounting for 70 per cent of the overall bookings. The petrol variant, that comes equipped with a 1.2L turbo-petrol engine is the one that has been contributing substantially to to overall sales of the XUV300, confirmed Mahindra.
"We are thrilled with the XUV300 receiving over 26,000 bookings in just over two months since its launch. Consumers are finding the XUV300 to be an exciting and comprehensive package that offers thrilling performance, first-in-segment safety features and head-turning design, which is reflected in these impressive booking numbers. It is also encouraging to see that a substantial number of bookings are for the petrol variant. As a customer centric organization, we are constantly working to keep the waiting period at a minimum and to get our customers their XUV300s as soon as possible." commented, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
The Mahindra XUV300 shares its platform with the SsangYong Tivoli that has sold over 2.6 lakh units in more than countries since its launch in 2015. Compared to the X100 platform, the XUV300 gets an all-new suspension setup and steering system apart from other significant changes. Powertrain options include a three-cylinder, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 110PS and 200Nm or the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine as the Mahindra Marazzo. The diesel engine has been detuned slightly to offer 115PS, though the torque output is an impressive 300Nm, which is a lot for a sub-4 metre SUV. The XUV300 is currently offered with a six-speed manual transmission only, though Mahindra will be launching an AMT-equipped version too.
The features list of the Mahindra XUV300 includes a-7 inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, cooled glovebox, rearview camera and parking sensors, cruise control and more. Segment first features include front parking sensors, auto-dimming mirrors, dual-zone climate control and a sunroof as well. That is a lot of equipment for a sub-4 metre SUV, apart from which the XUV300 also scores high on the safety front as it comes equipped with up to seven airbags. Other safety features include ABS with EBD, ESP, hill start assist and hill descent control
