Mahindra SUVs pending orders reach close to three lakh
Mahindra recently disclosed the overall pending orders for its SUVs stand at a staggering 2.92 lakh until 1 May, 2023. The brand has open bookings for its most-sought after models, such as the Thar, Scorpio-N, Scorpio Classic, XUV700, XUV300, XUV400 EV, Balero, and Balero Neo. Notably, the Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic account for 40 per cent of the total open bookings, while the XUV700 and Scorpio represent two-thirds of the overall pending orders.
Mahindra SUVs pending orders
It terms of model-specific pending orders, the Thar accounts for around 58,000 bookings, while the open bookings of the Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic stand at approximately 1.17 lakh. With this, the Thar receives about 14,000 bookings every month, which is also applicable for the Thar. Whereas, the XUV700 constitutes for a whopping 78,000 open bookings, with around 8,000 bookings each month.
Moving forward to the XUV300 and all-electric XUV400, the combined pending orders for both SUVs stand at around 29,000. The sub-compat SUVs get around 10,000 bookings per month. Last but not least, the Balero and Balero Neo have about 8,200 pending orders. The carmaker is said to have producing about 14,000 SUVs every month.
Mahindra SUVs waiting periods
According to media reports, the waiting period for the Scorpio-N has stretched up to 17 months, while customers may have to wait up to seven months for the Scorpio Classic. On the other hand, the waiting period for the XUV700 is approximately over a year. Not to forget, the Thar is also in demand and its waiting period varies between six months to a year, depending on the variants. Meanwhile, Mahindra is planning to scale up its production capacity to cope with the overwhelming pending orders.
Toyota third-shift at Bidad plant
In other news, Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently began third-shift operations at the Bidadi manufacturing plant in Karnataka with an aim of increasing production capacity and reduce waiting periods for its cars. The third-shift operations is set to increase facility's production capacity by 30 per cent. Therefore, the extra shift is likely to reduce waiting times of the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Fortuner, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, which Toyota manufactures at the Bidadi facility.
