Mahindra recalls over 1 lakh units of the XUV700 and XUV400
Mahindra has recalled two of its SUVs, the XUV700 and the XUV400 EV. The SUV manufacturer stated that 1,08,306 XUV700 models made between June 8, 2021 and June 28, 2023 were impacted. However, 3,560 XUV400s made between February 16, 2023 and June 5, 2023 have been recalled.
While the XUV700 has already been recalled, this is the first recall for the XUV400 since its introduction earlier this year.
Mahindra XUV700 and XUV400: Recall
There is a possibility of abrasion-producing cuts in the wiring loom routing in the engine bay, which might lead to overheating concerns owing to excess current in the XUV700. In the case of the XUV400, there is a possible problem with the efficiency of the brake potentiometer's spring return action.
Mahindra will contact owners of impacted vehicles and ask them to bring their vehicles in for examination. Following that, the SUV manufacturer will repair the defective item at no additional cost if necessary.
Mahindra XUV700 and XUV400: Details
The XUV700 is available with both petrol and diesel engines, including a 2-litre 200PS and 380Nm of torque petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine up to 185PS and 450Nm. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, and the top-spec diesel models also have an all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain as an option.
The XUV400 EV is a plug-in hybrid SUV with two battery pack options: 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh. Both units are powered by a single electric motor with 150PS and 310Nm of torque; the smaller battery has an MIDC-claimed driving range of 375km, while the larger one has 456km.
The XUV400 EV range starts from Rs 15.99 lakh rising all the way up to Rs 19.19 lakh, while the XUV700 range has more variants starting from Rs 14 lakh up to Rs 26.18 lakh.
