Mahendra Singh Dhoni's automobile collection: From a Mahindra tractor, ex-army offroader to a superfast SUV and more

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian captain, has turned 39 today. His contributions to the world of cricket is celebrated by all his fans and well wishers in the country. Be it his famous helicopter shot, or the fact that he piloted the Indian team while winning the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 and also the historic 2011 World Cup, along with several other wins, which makes him a true legend. However, the reason we are writing about him is not his successful cricket career. But the fact that he owns some of the most desirable two-wheelers and four wheelers that one could possibly own. Captain Cool has never disclosed the precise number of automobiles that he owns, but has often given the world a sneak peek into his collection by sharing updates on social media or taking them on a stroll through the city. Here's a quick look at some of the vehicles he owns or has owned in the past.

Mahindra Swaraj 963 FE Tractor

A tractor? Yes, Dhoni owns a Swaraj 963 FE tractor to pursue his interest in organic farming at his farmhouse in Ranchi. And for this, he was congratulated by Mahindra bossman Anand Mahindra himself who tweeted, "I've always thought the man is a good decision-maker with the perfect sense of judgment.."

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The supercharged 6.2L V8 engine of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk produces a mind blowing 707PS and 875Nm. We assume it is either the claimed 0 to 100kmph acceleration of close to 3.7s that might have impressed Dhoni or the SUV's massive street presence, whichever be the reason, this is one badass SUV for sure.

Yamaha RD 350

Among Dhoni's collection of expensive, fast, and vintage motorcycles, the Yamaha RD 350 holds a special spot. For it was his first that was bought for a princely sum of Rs 4,500 back in the day. The cricketer has restored it to its original glory and is often seen riding it in and around his hometown as well on the lawn in front of his personal car and bike collection.

Nissan Jonga 1-ton

Last year, Dhoni took delivery of a Nissan Jonga 1-ton which was previously owned by the Indian army but was customised to suit Dhoni's preferences. Back then, the JONGA (Jabalpur Ordnance and Guncarriage Assembly) was manufactured by Nissan for the Indian Army.

Kawasaki Ninja H2

A turbocharged motorcycle is a must-have if you are one of the richest persons in India, isn't it? Well, Dhoni thinks so. He owns the mad Ninja H2, which again is available in limited numbers here. The expensive price tag doesn't seem to be as eyeball wide as the 400kmph top speed.

Confederate Hellcat

One of the costliest motorcycles at one time in India, the Confederate Hellcat makes 132PS from its 2.2-litre engine. Only 150 units of this motorcycle have been made, and Dhoni is the only one in South-East Asia to own one. Lucky chap, we say!

Suzuki Hayabusa

The very epitome of pure performance bred superbikes, the Suzuki Hayabusa was one of the many supersports owned by the former captain. We believe all that power and torque came in handy when Dhoni took the Busa out for a spin around the city.

Ferrari 599 GTO

The Ferrari 599 GTO sportscar is special as the former Captain received it as a gift for winning the 2011 World Cup. Only 599 specimens were made for the world and Dhoni was one of them. He had customised it by getting the Indian tri-colour painted on the hood.

GMC Sierra

While little details are available of this vehicle and given how rarely it steps out of the Dhoni household, the Sierra isn't as famous as the other cars in this list. However, it does establish Dhoni's credentials as an SUV lover.

Maruti Suzuki SX4

This one Dhoni won in 2008 when he famously hit the last ball of the match for a six, thereby allowing India to win the match. He was adjudged the man of the match.

Hummer H2

Now this is the baap of all SUVs! He imported the Hummer into the country when they were still made. He has been spotted on numerous occasions, driving the Hummer. In fact, when the New Zealand cricket team was touring India last year, Dhoni took his Hummer to the cricket field in Ranchi, instead of his regular team bus. This one is worth around Rs 2-3 crore.

Kawasaki ZX-14R

This one was widely regarded as one of the fastest sportsbikes in the world. The 1,400cc engine makes close to 200PS, and the motorcycle is priced at around Rs 20 lakh. Dhoni has had a few track days with this motorcycle.

Harley-Davidson Fatboy

The Fatboy is Dhoni's favourite is what we hear. The 132Nm cruiser is what he needs for a peaceful outing, isn't it?

BSA Gold Star

MHP-6518 - That's Dhoni's infamous BSA Gold Star DBD 34. The reason we say infamous is because Dhoni was fined  by the Ranchi traffic police as his vintage motorcycle flouted the guidelines for the right display of number plate.

Norton Jubilee 250

What a coincidence! MS Dhoni endorses TVS Motor Company in India, the new owners of Norton Motorcycles. While Dhoni is said to have have been awarded a TVS Apache for one of his wins in the past, he also owns a Norton Jubilee 250 which he received in 2014 from a friend.

Yamaha Thundercat

The 600cc Yam is a pocket rocket. Some numbers for you! 90PS and a top speed of 240kmph. Not only is it comfortable but is fast as well. Almost matches the character of Captain Cool.

Mitsubishi Pajero

MS Dhoni is said to have been a fan of Mitsubishis foe had the earlier-gen Outlander and the Pajero SFX. While Mitsubishi did update the Outlander, the Pajero SFX, one of the most capable SUVs have been discontinued from India.

Mahindra Scorpio

In 2016, Dhoni bought a customised Mahindra Scorpio which was said to be a one-off by Mahindra. Specially designed for Dhoni, it had the initials of MS  along with auxiliary lights, chrome tipped exhausts, cladding and off-road spec tyres.

In addition to the above mentioned, Dhoni's collection of automobiles also included the TVS Apache, Land Rover Freelander 2, Audi Q7 and also a TVS Star City
