The Mahindra XUV300 is launching today! A sub-four metre SUV, the XUV300 is the latest in a string of important launches across segments from the manufacturer, after the Mahindra Marazzo and also the Mahindra Alturas G4. Interestingly, Mahindra has chosen to launch the XUV300 on Valentine's Day! The XUV300 is as important as the aforementioned cars if not more, given how important the 10 lakh rupee SUV segment is in India today. The segment currently witnesses stiff competition between the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon and the XUV300 joins the party. Mahindra has in fact ensured that the XUV300 is ready to take its competitors head on and also has it equipped with a long list of features and creature comforts, including a few segment firsts. The XUV300 is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, with the latter boasting impressive outputs of 115PS and 300Nm! The XUV300 gets three steering modes. In Comfort, the steering is light and well assisted, Sport weighs up the wheel significantly and the middle setting is Normal.
The compact SUV comes with ABS and two airbags as standard. There are many class leading safety features on offer too.
You pay an additional Rs 1.19 lakh for the option pack available on the W8 variant. All prices are ex-showroom
The base petrol W4 variant is priced at Rs 7.9 lakh. The base diesel is Rs 8.49 lakh.
The1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motor is from the Marazzo re-tuned to provide 117PS at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm.
The XUV 300 is available with a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol motor. This is a reworked version of the engine from the KUV100 and makes 112 PS and 200 Nm
Mahindra has reworked that car considerably to bring it under the 4m. Dimensionally, the XUV300 is 3.99m long, 1.82m wide and 2.62m long. wheelbase is segment leading at 2.6m.
The XUV300 is based on the X100 platform, sharing its underpinnings with the SsangYong Tivoli.
