Lexus had earlier teased motorheads with a preview of a car that "explores the potential for a compact crossover within the Lexus model range." A new Lexus mid-size crossover concept, the LF-NX, will have its global premier at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.

With many automakers going the 'compact' way with their crossovers, like the GLA, X1, V40 Cross Country, Evoque and Q3, Lexus adding this long-anticipated compact crossover to its model range will only spice things up. The concept comes across as finely creased and powerfully sculpted. It gets a more evolved version of Lexus' typical L-finesse design language.

Nothing substantial has been said about the powertrain. A 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to a hybrid motor is being guessed. One thing is certain; Lexus has said the car will be "powered by a new variation of the Lexus Hybrid Drive full hybrid system, tuned for SUV performance."
