Honda has launched the Brio automatic in India in two trims â€" S(O) at Rs 5.74 lakh and V at Rs 5.99 lakh ex-Delhi, approximately Rs 80,000 more than the equivalent manual trim. The Brio automatic borrows its 88PS 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine from the manual variant. A 5-speed torque convertor similar to the one in the City handles the transmission duties. There are no paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, but the transmission other than the regular D mode also features three more driving modes â€" D3 - The gearbox shifts only between 1st and 2nd gear, D2 â€" stays in 2nd gear only and D1 â€" gearbox doesn't shift beyond 1st gear. In our test, the Brio automatic raced from 0-100kmph in 17.1 seconds, which is 4.25 seconds more than the manual. ARAI claimed fuel efficiency is 16.5kmpl, 2.9kmpl less than the manual.
