The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift has been unveiled in India, bringing in fresh inside and out, a range of powertrains, and new advanced features. Pre-bookings of the SUV are slated to open on 20 December, 2023. This update has marked the first substantial overhaul for the sub four-meter SUV since its market debut in 2020. With this, the Sonet facelift will be available in seven variants across 11 single-tone and dual paint options, inclduing the new Pewter Olive shade. Now, here we find out differences between the new and old Kia Sonet.

Kia has also announced the reintroduction of the K-Code, a high priority customer delivery initiative, for not only the Sonet but also for the other Kia models on sale in the country. So far, the carmaker 3.68 lakh units of the SUV, while 84,000 units were exported in over 100 countries in 2023. That being said, we expect Kia to launch the Sonet facelift in India in early 2024.

The 2024 Sonet facelift features redesigned fascia, including new headlights with integrated daytime running lights, LED fog lights, reworked Tiger Nose grille, and a new front bumper compared to the previous model. At the back, the updated Sonet follows the widespread trend of light bars with a full-length light stripe adjoining the redesigned taillamps. The new taillamps on the Sonet facelift are reminiscent of the units seen on the Seltos facelift. Also on offer are the newly designed wheels available in difference sizes depending on the variant.

On the inside, the Sonet facelift gets subtle changes to its interior over its predecessor. It now boasts a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, LED ambient sound lighting, a new GT Line lettering on the steering wheel, and find my vehicle with a surround view monitor. The interior colour themes include all-black with semi-leatherette upholstery, black and beige semi-leatherette upholstery, black and brown with leatherette upholstery, black leatherette upholstery, and Sage Green leatherette upholstery with black interior.

The most significant addition to the feature-list of the Sonet facelift is ADAS, comprising 10 various functions, such as Forward Collaision Warning, Forward Collaision Avoidance Assist (pedestrian, car and cyclists), Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.

Compared to the previous model, the updated sub-four meter SUV now comes with six airbags and 14 other safety features as standard. These standard safety features include ESC, VSM, HAC, ABS, brake-force assist, rear parking sensors, and TMPS, among others.

Kia has also given it all-door power windows one-touch up and down, four-way powered driver's seat, 360deg camera with blind view monitor, rear-wheel disc brakes, new traction modes for automatic variants (sand, mud, and wet), drive modes (normal, eco, and sport), auto-dimming IRVM with Kia Connect control, an electric sunroof, updated Kia Connect with over 70 functions, air purifier with virus and bacteria protection, rear door sunshade curtain, and Amazon Alexa support. It has also continued with a seven-speaker Bose sound system and ventilated front seats.

The Sonet facelift gets the same a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 120PS/172Nm, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit with 83PS/115Nm, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel motor with 116PS/250Nm as the old model. What is new is that Kia has reintroduced the manual gearbox for its diesel engine. Hence, customers can choose from a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, a six-speed iMT, a six-speed automatic, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
