Kia introduces K-Charge initiative for its EV customers
Kia India has introduced the new K-Charge service for its EV customers in India under the single smartphone app, called MyKia. As a part of this initiative, the EV owners will have access to over 1,000 EV charging stations of different EV charging solution providers across India. Kia says that this initiative will be valuable to the Indian EV customers to overcome the range anxiety.
For this, Kia has partnered with five EV charging solution providers, namely Charge Zone, Statiq, Lion Charge, Relux Electric, and E-Fill. Not only that, the brand has done a special deal with Relux Electric to offer its EV users free of cost charging of three months. Plus, the K-Charge allows customers to locate charging station, check the availability of charging slots, and pay for their charging session using the wallet service within the app.
With its new, 'EV for All' initiative, which also incorporates the newly launched K-Charge programme, Kia aims to achieve an annual sales target of one million electric vehicles by 2026 and 1.6 million units every year by 2030, with the launch of new EVs. For India, Kia has already laid out lays out a plan, which includes introducing EV models from its global porfolio as well as developing market-specific locally manufactured EV in the RV body style by 2030. That being said, the brand currently sells the EV6 in the country.
"K-Charge is not just a convenience initiative for our customers but a step towards making sustainable mobility convenient and accessible for everyone. We strongly believe that the technology transition towards a complete EV future ought to be smooth, and the K-Charge, integrated into the 'MyKia' app, is a well-thought-out step in that direction. With this aim, we will continue our efforts towards expanding the charging network through the onboarding of new CPOs in the future. We are confident that seamless, user-friendly solutions like these will play a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India," said Hardeep Singh Brar, National Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India.
