Kia India surpasses two lakh units export milestone

Kia India has announced that it has crossed a milestone of exporting over 2 lakh units to 95 countries so far. It has achieved this milestone less than four years of the commencement of its operations in the country. With this, the brand has become the largest SUV and MPV exporter for the third consecutive year.

Kia registered 22 per cent export growth in the first quarter of 2023 compared to Q1 2022. On the other hand, it reported 44 per cent growth in the financial year 2022-23. In December 2022, Kia dispatched 9,462 units, reporting the highest monthly exports ever.

In the first quarter of 2023, the Seltos emerged as the most exported SUV in the country, as Kia shipped 10,295 units. As a result, the Seltos has a share of 28 per cent in the SUV export segment.

In terms of exports, the Seltos has remained its top contributor - accounting for 68 per cent - to the overall export numbers, with 1,35,885 units exported to 95 countries to date. Following the Seltos, the Sonet and Carens have contributed 54,406 units and 8,230 units to the total number of exports. Meanwhile, the Seltos constitute 53 per cent of the carmaker's overall domestic sales in India.

Kia India's Seltos, Sonet and Carens are in demand in various regions across the globe, such as Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Central America and South America, and Mexico.

The automaker recently unveiled the Seltos facelift globally and it has already seen a few market launches, such as the USA. The India-bound Seltos facelift gets a refreshed design and overhauled interior. It also gains more features and upgraded equipment, such as all-wheel drive and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The India-spec Seltos facelift will arrive with a new 160PS/253Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that was debuted with the updated Hyundai Alcazar and all-new Verna. It will retain the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and 1.5-litre diesel motor. All engines will be updated to comply with RDE /BS6 phase-2 emission regulations. Notably, we expect Kia to launch the Seltos facelift in India in the coming months.
