Kia India rolls out the first Carens from its Anantapur plant
From its state-of-the-art production plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Kia India, today rolled out the first customer car of the three-row recreational vehicle, the Kia Carens. The Kia Carens is Kia's latest 'Made-in-India' product.
The Kia claims the Carens Carens was tested on various terrains and in simulated scenarios before it went into production. The Kia Carens will be built in India and sold in more than 80 countries. Kia aims to create a whole new segment with its latest offering.
The Kia Carens' engine options are the same as the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. The 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol from the Alcazar has been given a miss here but the top spec engine option is the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol that puts out 140PS and 242 Nm. This pairs with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT. The diesel engine option is a 1.5-litre unit that puts out 115PS and 250 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual or torque converter. The base engine option is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol that makes 115PS and 144 Nm and is only available with the manual.
The new Kia Carens will be available in Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus variants although the exact features and seating(6 or 7) options haven't been revealed yet. Notable features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with eight-speaker Bose audio, 64-colour ambient lighting, air purifier, connected-car tech, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, sunroof, 16-inch dual-tone alloys, LED DRLS and headlamps and LED taillamps.
Commenting on the occasion, Tae-Jin Park, Managing Director and CEO, Kia India, said, "We are all about inspiration at Kia, and with the Kia Carens, we bring to the table a whole new set of value propositions aligning with requirements of the new-age customer. I am very excited about the beginning of this new journey. The Kia Carens is the fourth product we are rolling out in India. Our teams have worked tirelessly to bring out a product that truly reflects and resonates with modern Indian families. When customers think of a Kia, they expect best-in-class features, distinct design identity, and unmatched ownership experience which is truly reflected in the Carens."
