Kia India registers its best-ever monthly sales in March 2022

Kia India sold 22,622 units in March 2022, making it the highest number of cars the Korean brand has sold in a month. This is a 18.44 per cent growth from the same period last year. Kia recorded even higher growth in yearly sales, which grew 20 per cent to 1,86,787 units. The last quarter has also been its most successful, seeing a 9.5 per cent yearly growth to 60,062 units.

Kia Carens spurs demand

The Kia Carens has had a major role to lay in this success. The newly launched MPV is already the second-most popular model for Kia. The Kia Seltos with 8,415 units sold remains the best-seller but the Carens has already notched up 7,008 dispatches in only its second month on sale. The three-row model has already garnered over 50,000 bookings and 12,117 units have been sold.

The Kia Sonet and Kia Carnival continue to remain popular as well, the sub-4m SUV sold 6,871 units while 328 units of the premium MPV were sold.

Kia Carens price, specifications

Prices for the Carens start from Rs 8.99 lakh for the base petrol Premium variant. This goes up to Rs 16.99 lakh for the Luxury Plus turbo DCT six-seater. Prices for the diesel line-up start from Rs 10.99 lakh for the Premium seven-seater, going up to Rs 16.99 lakh for the Luxury Plus AT six-seater. The Kia Carens is 4,540mm long, 1,800mm wide, 1,708mm tall and has a 2,780mm wheelbase. The wheelbase is 20mm longer than the Hyundai Alcazar while the Carens is 40mm longer, 10mm wider and 33mm taller.

The top-spec engine option with the Kia Carens is the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol that puts out 140PS and 242 Nm. This pairs with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT. The diesel engine option is a 1.5-litre unit that puts out 115PS and 250 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual or torque converter. The base engine option is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol that makes 115PS and 144 Nm and is only available with the manual.
