Intermot 2016: Details on the all-new Kawasaki Z900

Kawasaki showcased a host of bikes that include the all-new Ninja 650, H2 Carbon as well as the Z1000SX at the Intermot 2016. In addition, the Japanese bike maker revealed details of the all-new Z900. Touted as the successor of the Z800, the Z900 will officially debut at the upcoming EICMA which is scheduled to happen next month in Milan, Italy. Kawasaki also showcased the new Z650 which is expected to replace the ER-6n.

Powering this naked machine is a new an inline 4-cylinder 948cc motor derived from the larger sibling, the Z1000. This motor puts out 123.6PS of power at 6,000 rpm. It will also come equipped with a slipper clutch which is designed by Kawasaki and helps counter the engine braking effect while downshifting. Additionally, the Z900 comes with all-new lightweight steel trellis frame that makes the bike weigh 210kg.

The Kawasaki Z900 comes with a 41mm upside-down forks in the front and a mono-shock in the rear, both with adjustable rebound and preload functions. It gets 300mm discs in the front along with four-piston callipers from Nissin and is offered with ABS as standard.

We expect Kawasaki India to launch the new Z900 sometime next year replacing the Z800. However, the fiercer Z1000 will continue to be sold alongside.
