India-spec BMW i4 electric sedan range, specifications revealed, launch on May 26
BMW India has showcased the much-awaited India-spec BMW i4 all-electric sedan ahead of the car's launch on May 26. The BMW i4 will join the BMW iX and the Mini Cooper SE in the BMW group's electric line-up for India.
The BMW i4 basically an all-electric variant of the 4 Series Gran Coupe, and is based on the 3 Series' CLAR chassis. The blanked-off front grille, like most EVs, aero-optimized wheels, blue highlights, flat door handles, and altered front and rear bumpers are just a few of the EV-specific design details.
As of now, BMW has only unveiled the BMW i4 eDrive40 but is also expected to bring the more powerful M50 xDrive powertrain later on. The BMW i4 eDrive4 produces 340PS and is rear-wheel drive. The car will sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and is electronically restricted to 190 kmph.
The BMW M50 xDrive produces a whopping 544PS and with the assistance of all-wheel drive, the car does the 0 to 100 kmph run in 3.9 seconds.
The BMW i4 can charge up to 200kW, giving the eDrive40 an extra 164 kilometres of range in only 10 minutes. BMW i4 eDrive4 has a total range of 590 km while the M50 xDrive has a range of 510 km (WLTP cycle).
The curved twin-screen set-up, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, is the highlight of the BMW's cabin. BMW's newest iDrive 8 user interface is installed on the system, which also enables over-the-air updates.
The BMW i4 won't face any direct competitors at the time of launch but the M50 xDrive variant which will be revealed later on will take on the Audi e-tron GT and the Porsche Taycan.
