India-bound all-new Skoda Kodiaq to be unveiled tomorrow: What should you expect?

The new generation Skoda Kodiaq global debut is set for tomorrow, on 4 October, 2023. The carmaker recently previewed the exterior design sketches and interior of the SUV, revealing its modern yet muscular styling along with premium and minimalist interior. Here is what should you expect from the all-new Kodiaq.

2024 Skoda Kodiaq: Powertrain

While the outgoing model comes powered by a variety of engine options, such as a 1.5-litre petrol, 2.0-litre petrol, and 2.0-litre diesel, the upcoming Kodiaq could carry forward the same engine options along with the 4x4 drivetrain. These units are expected to be updated and come equipped with mild hybrid functionality. Transmission choices may include a six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic units. However, a new PHEV version with an EV-only range of up to 100km is likely to make its debut in the SUV â€" a first time for the Kodiaq.

2024 new-gen Skoda Kodiaq: Design and interior

As seen in the official design sketches, the next-gen Kodiaq has a sportier and more muscular styling than its predecessor. The highlight of its exterior includes new headlights, angular L-shape daytime driving lights, new C-shaped taillights with a light bar running across its length, a new bonnet, arrow-straight shoulder lines, a larger butterfly grille, and a new front and rear bumpers, and "Skoda" lettering on the boot. Further, the brand will offer wheel sizes ranging from 17- to 20-inches.

Inside, the modern and minimalist cabin features a new 13-inch free-standing central information hub, a 10-inch driver display, an redesigned steering wheel, and Skoda Smart Dials â€" a control panel consisting three knobs with a 32mm display to adjust temperature and access functions. Skoda has also given it a new gear selector, which is located on the steering column and a heads-up display for the first time. There is also a 15W wireless charging pad, a 15W Type-C USB port on the rear-view mirror, and up to four USB Type-C ports with a power output of 45W.

The interior now uses recycled polyester for the upholstery and textiles with leather made with an environmental-friendly tanning process that uses coffee bean processing residue or using wastewater from olive processing.

2024 new-gen Skoda Kodiaq: Features

The feature-list of the new Kodiaq is likely to witness fresh additions and the second-gen Top LED Matrix headlight setup is one of them. We expect the SUV to get updated dynamic chassic control, a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone temperature control, new drive modes, ambient lighting, a hi-fi sound system, powered front seats with memory function, ventilated and heated seats, powered tailgate, upgraded telematics and connetced car tech, seven airbags, 360deg camera, and Level 2 autonomy, among others.
