The Ford Figo Aspire is the newest entrant in the sub-four metre compact sedan segment in India. The car, says Ford, is aimed at the "aspirational" set of customers in the market. Ford has not revealed prices or engine output figures yet but looking at the car in the flesh, the Aspire does look like it has the teeth to bite into the compact sedan market share. We expect the car to be launched by July-August 2015. Here is a look at the details of the latest Ford in India.
The grille is similar to that on the new Fiesta. Looks a lot like that on an Aston Martin, especially with those bonnet creases, which we believe will be its USP
The boot get a chunky strip of chrome
The bumper gets gets a sharp crease line below the grille
The boot looks good and not ungainly like some other compact sedans
The overall silhouette is proportionate
Turn indicators are integrated in the mirror. The mirrors in the top spec are electrically adjustable as well as foldable
The fog lamps are similar to the ones on the EcoSport albeit without the chrome bit
The tail lamps are of the wrap-around kind and gel neatly with the boot
The centre console and steering wheel are similar to the EcoSport. AC vents on the corners are new
The door trim is finished in beige. Speakers are integrated into each door panel
The rear doors open wide, facilitating ingress and egress
Though the front seats are scooped out to liberate more rear knee room, they are comfortable and supportive
New integrated control panel operates fog lamps, pilot lamps, headlamps, beam level and boot release
Press centre button to toggle between high and low beam
Automatic climate control will be available in the top variant
The top spec Figo Aspire will get the Ford Sync with AppLink
Glove box is not very large
Wiper and washer stalk is placed on the left of the steering column
The indicator cum day flasher stalk is now placed on the right side of the steering column unlike other Fords that we have in India at the moment
Instrument cluster is all new and has a Multi Information Display (MID) that reads out average speed, average fuel consumption, real time fuel consumption and distance to empty (DTE)
Rear seat is spacious by compact sedan standards. There is sufficient knee, shoulder and headroom
Door handle with an integrated lock is similar to the Figo hatchback but has a far better finish
Door pockets are deep and very practical. They can hold bottles of varying sizes along with other knick-knacks
The interior trim is what you will usually find in other Fords in India
