The IBW 2025 at Panchgani, Maharashtra was a rich experience and a paradise for riders of all ages, shapes and sizes. At the IBMW, we got hold of the test rider for Aprilia - Lorenzo Savadori and asked him a couple of questions.

Q. Which would be the toughest corner or track for the upcoming season?
A. Well, our bikes have been improved and the gearing is now better but a track that presents a problem is Sepang in Malaysia. It has a lot of tricky sections and they are not that easy to tackle at high speeds. But we will of course try to improve.

Q. How do you prepare yourself before going out on a MotoGP track?
A. Well, I am focusing a hundred per cent on the track and be fully present in the moment, because only in a matter of seconds, things can go sideways, my top speed on the track was 359 kmph. So, I am dialed in 100 per cent, super focused on the task at hand.

Q. What are the few rituals you go through before getting own the track?
A. Well, I sit with the engineers, riders and the technicians, discuss the track and electronic strategy, ECU mapping, braking zones, and how we can better our performance.

Q. What is your advice for all the newbie riders who are starting their race journey?
A. It is very important to believe in yourself, more often than not we are conditioned to stay within a certain set of limits and it will take some time but with every attempt try to push to the limit. Also, have a clear goal in your mind, it is very difficult to acquire everything within a short span of time. So, be patient but phase out your goals and attack them one-by-one instead of getting ahead of yourself.

Q. What is the one thing that newbies are doing wrong while trying to get fast?
A. Well, novice riders are aggressive with the throttle and they are eager to launch themselves early while exiting a corner. Usually, there is a lot of planning that happens before you enter the corner and that is how a clean and fast exit is executed, and that will take its time. So, be gentle with the throttle, plan your strategy and eventually you will become fast.

Q. What do you think about the IBW 2025 at Panchgani?
A. I love the energy and the whole vibe of the festival. The excitement is almost palpable, so many rider groups, families and young people are here to celebrate the biking and riding culture. There is so much that is offered here over a span of just two days, and the icing on the cake is the very venue. The beautiful backdrop and the hills, add that to the mix of performances, beautiful bikes and great food along with music, it does not get any better than this.
