Hyundai showcases interior of India-bound Ioniq 5

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has showcased the interior of the upcoming all-electric Ioniq 5. The highlights of the cabin are two large displays, environmentally friendly upholstery, and powered seats. Meanwhile, the brand will commence bookings of the Ioniq 5 in India on 20 December, 2022.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Interior Highlights

For starters, the Ioniq 5 gets powered front seats with lumbar support. The rear seats also get electronically adjustable sliding and reclining functions. Notably, the rear seats can be moved forward and backwards by 135mm. 

Moreover, Hyundai offers a seat-memory function for all seats, allowing passengers to save up to three position settings. On top of that, the rear seat passengers can adjust the co-driver seat with the push of a button. The Ioniq 5 also has a movable centre console, offering up to 140mm travel. Unlike conventional units, this gets two cup holders and an armrest but there is a space between the two.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Eco-Friendly Upholstery

Hyundai has exclusively utilised environmentally friendly materials to make Ioniq 5's cabin headliner and upholstery. For each model, the automaker uses up to 32 plastic bottles to make woven upholstery fabric. Then, the seat, headliner, and carpet fabric use bio components extracted from sugar cane and corn. Whereas, leather is dyed using flaxseed oil. Last but not least, Hyundai has used bio paint - made from plants, such as rape flowers and corn, to paint doors and crash pads.

The modern and minimalist cabin of the Ioniq 5 features two displays - a 12.25-inch driver information screen and a 12.25-inch infotainment touchscreen system. Other features include a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a Bose sound system, dual-zone temperature control, a moonroof, and seven airbags.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Specifications

Powering the Ioniq 5 are two battery packs: 58kWh and 72.6kWh available with either a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive setup. The range and power outputs vary depending on the battery pack and drivetrain option. Thanks to the advanced 800V charging technology, the EV can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes.
