The cabin too has gone through a major transformation and looks plusher than before. It gets a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. This system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. The more expensive variants come with sunroof and an automatic tailgate system that opens the trunk as soon as the vehicle detects the key around the tail section.

Powering the new Hyundai Elantra is a 4-cylinder 1.6-litre diesel engine that makes 128PS at 4,000rpm and generates 260Nm of torque at 1,900-2,750rpm. The 1.8-litre petrol of the last-generation model has been replaced with a brand-new Nu 2.0-litre motor. This motor puts out 152PS at 6,200 rpm and makes 192Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.

The new Hyundai Elantra competes with the likes of the Skoda Octavia and the Chevrolet Cruze. Read our detailed comparo here.
