Rajasthan-based EV startup, Hop Electric Mobility, which began its operations in India last June with the Lyf and Leo scooters, has now launched its first electric motorcycle, the Hop OXO, in India at the price of Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). There's even a slightly higher spec OXO X e-bike variant which is priced at Rs1.40lakh.

Appearance-wise the Hop OXO has a good mix of a commuter motorcycle and a sporty 125cc bike. The bike gets an old-school-TVS-like halogen headlamp unit up front, a sleek tank with rather neat-looking extensions. The rear gets a sporty upswept tail section with a split grab rail. The bike's charging port is located on the bottom left of the tank. The bike also gets a massive single-piece seat.

Both, the OXO and the OXO X variants weigh the same at 140kh (kerb), have identical ground clearance of 180mm and come equipped with the same battery and motor units. The battery pack is 3.7kWh lithium-ion unit that's fixed under the tank and cannot be removed. It is said to give the bike a claimed range of 150km on a complete charge, in Eco mode. The battery can be charged from any 16 Amp power socket via the 850W portable charger, taking less than four hours to charge from 0-80 per cent. The hub-mounted BLDC motor is said to deliver 3Kw of continuous power and 5.2 of peak power. What separates the OXO from the OXO X is the latter's connectivity to the interweb which allows app and related activities and info including turn-by-turn navigation, along with the additional 'Turbo' ride mode. Also, while the battery on the OXO comes with a 3yrs/50,000km warranty, the OXO X comes with a 4yrs/unlimited km warranty.

Highlights of the OXO e-motorcycle include a five-inch digital LCD display that's packed with a hoard of info, three ride modes (eco, power and sport), a USB charging socket, park assist and reverse assist. The Hop e-bike variants run on alloy wheels (18-inch front, 17-inch rear), with disc brakes at both ends (240mm front; 220mm rear), a telescopic fork and twin hydraulic springs suspension, and a CBS system with regenerative braking with settings.

Bookings for the OXO bikes have opened from Rs 999, with deliveries expected to commence from October 1 this year. Interested customers can book and purchase the motorcycle from any of Hop's 150 retail stores in 14 across the country, as well as the company's online store.
