Hero Motocorp has just added to its Vida V2 electric scooter line with two models which feature new detachable battery packs. The new VX2 Go variant sits below as the new base variant of the Vida, while the VX2 Pro sits just below the existing V2 Pro model.

Both, the VX2 Pro and Go models are available with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) package, making electric vehicle ownership more accessible and cost-effective. The VX2 Plus, priced at Rs 64,990 (ex-showroom) with BaaS (where you use/rent the battery packs through a subscription package) and Rs 109,990 without (where you own the battery packs and must charge them yourselves), and the VX2 Go, at Rs 59,490 with BaaS and Rs 99,490 without.

Hero claims that the VX2 Plus can run an IDC range of up to 142km with its 3.4 kWh battery setup, while the VX2 Go offers up to 92km with its smaller 2.2 kWh battery pack.

Vida's pay-per-km subscription model, integrated with the BaaS package, is aimed to lowers barriers to EV ownership. Customers can choose plans aligned with their riding habits, enjoying benefits such as free battery replacement if performance drops below 70% and access to a nationwide fast-charging network. While the subscription plans haven't been mentioned as yet, and we expect to have concrete information on this when we test ride the scooter in the coming weeks.

The VX2 Plus is equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT display, while the VX2 Go features a 4.3-inch LCD, both offering turn-by-turn navigation, ride telemetry, and real-time updates through smartphone connectivity. In terms of security features, the variants get remote immobilization and cloud connectivity, providing riders with added safety and control. Additionally, fast charging capabilities allow the battery to reach 80% charge in just 60 minutes, minimizing downtime.

Design-wise, what differentiates the newly introduced models from the older ones are the almost-flat, single-piece seat, the pillion backrest and a slightly altered handlebar covers. The rest of the underpinnings appear to have been carried forward from the existing models. Other features include 12-inch wheels, and, according to the press release, a 33.2-litre boot! Which is rather remarkable for a scooter with removable batteries at this point.
