Gwent, Wales police department unveil Mahindra Treo in its fleet
The Mahindra Treo has become Gwent Police's newest tool in the fight against crime. Four of the three-wheelers were purchased by the force for usage in Newport and Abergavenny, both in Monmouthshire.
It stated that police will use motorized rickshaws to patrol parks, sidewalks, and other areas. The vehicle, which has a top speed of roughly 55 kmph, was purchased at an unknown cost by the police.
They will serve as "safe places" where crimes can be reported, assistance can be obtained, and tips on crime prevention can be offered, according to Gwent Police. The force said that "ambassadors," which may include Newport Now workers, could also use them. The city centre is managed and promoted by Newport Now.
The 3-wheeler (or as we like to call it, rickshaw) is a product of Mahindra and will play an integral role in this Welsh police department in fighting crime. It produces 11PS and 42 Nm of torque and has a charging time of 3 hours and 50 minutes.
