Guillaume Sicard appointed as president, India operations for Nissan

Guillaume Sicard, who's been serving as deputy president for Nissan India since July this year, will be taking over as president, India operations from Kenichiro Yomura.

Taking over the new office from October 1, Sicard will have under his aegis all the operations of the company in India, including the workings of the Chennai plant with a capacity of 4 lakh units. Nissan plans on building and expanding its sales network in the country and Sicard will be watching over the business development, new launches and the establishment of the Datsun brands.

The former president, India operations, Yomura, will be returning to Japan and taking office as GM, Africa business management department for Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. Both Yomura and Sicard will now be reporting to Takashi Hata, senior vice president, in charge of Africa, Middle East and India region operations for Nissan.

"Guillaume Sicard will make a significant contribution to Nissan," said Hata. "Sicard will take an encompassing role and lead our continued focus on delivering the best products and ensuring satisfaction for our customers in India. Our goal is to become a major player in this important and growing market."

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) will soon also be appointing a new managing director for overseeing the company's sales and marketing operations in the country.

Nissan Appoints Guillaume Sicard President of India Operations


CHENNAI, India (September 29, 2014) – Nissan has announced the appointment of Guillaume Sicard as President, Nissan India operations, effective October 1, 2014. Sicard has been serving as Nissan's Deputy President in India since July, 2014. Sicard will report to Takashi Hata, Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., in charge of Africa, Middle East and India region. In his new role, Sicard will lead Nissan in India and be responsible for all the company's operations in the country, including manufacturing at the plant in Chennai which has a capacity of 400,000 units. He will lead business development as Nissan expands its sales networks in India for the Nissan and Datsun brands and launches new products in pursuit of its ambition to be a major player in the country's automotive sector. Nissan will later announce the name of a new managing director of Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL), Nissan's sales and marketing company in India, who will report to Sicard. Kenichiro Yomura, current President of Nissan India operations, will be returning to Japan where he has been appointed General Manager, Africa Business Management Department, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., also effective October 1, 2014.
