Ford India resumes EcoSport bookings at its dealerships
Ford India launched its EcoSport compact SUV in June 2013 with great response from the market. The response was in fact so heavy that the American manufacturer received nearly 30,000 bookings within the first few weeks. The demand kept on piling up with the manufacturer not being able to cope up. This subsequently led Ford to ask its dealers to stop accepting bookings for the model.

After several months and now with the waiting periods substantially reduced, the company has instructed its dealers to start accepting bookings for all models of its multiple award winning offering. Vinay Piparsania, executive director of marketing sales and service at Ford India, came out with this statement, "Ford India's game changing SUV EcoSport is aimed squarely at delighting discerning customers in India by offering more than they expect. With 50,000 EcoSports delivered, we have significantly reduced the waiting period and are pleased to extend the opportunity to book the Ford EcoSport to more customers."
The EcoSport has the choice of two petrol and one diesel engine. The petrol engines available are the 1.5-litre TiVCT and the award winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. The 1.5-litre petrol engine generates figures of 112PS/140Nm and has the option of 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, while the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol makes 125PS of max power and 170Nm of peak torque and gets only the 5-speed manual box. The 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine mated to the 5-speed manual transmission produces 91 horses and 204Nm of twisting force.
Ford India has delivered 50,000 EcoSports till now. Out of every five models produced at its Chennai plant one is an export unit. Only three more facilities around the globe produce the EcoSport and they are located at China, Brazil and Thailand.
