The fifth edition of the 21 Gun Salute Vintage Car Rally will showcase rare and iconic cars and motorcycles which have been restored and spotlessly maintained by enthusiasts.
The Vintage Car Rally is an initiative by 21 Gun Salute director, Madan Mohan, a vintage car collector himself, who has managed to rope in vintage clubs from Malaysia and Singapore too. These car clubs will bring in about seven to eight cars for the rally.
The rally will provide the young and old alike a glimpse of cars from an era that they've probably only read about in history books - cars like the 1946 Lincoln Continental, 1930 Packard 733, 1929 Buick Convertible and many more. The highlight, however, is the first car developed by Karl Friedrich Benz, the founder of Mercedes-Benz.
Over and above these, there are as many as 200 cars and 50 bikes that be will on display. These rare beauties will then drive around the streets of the capital across a 52km stretch, starting from the Red Fort and ending at Leisure Valley Park in Sector 29, Gurgaon. Upon reaching the finish line, the participants will be felicitated.
Speaking about the rally, Madan Mohan said, "This year the vintage car rally will be organised at a much larger scale and will be grander than the previous editions. The vision of the event is to place India on the global tourism map as the most attractive country when it comes to vintage cars and heritage motoring history. It aims at acquainting the youth to the rich heritage and culture of cars in India. We will be inviting several international car clubs and royal families from across the country, who will be bringing their cars to participate in this milestone event. Great food, amazing music and lots and lots of vintage cars and bikes will make this event a truly magnificent affair to remember."
