Fiat India plans 42 new dealerships by year end

Fiat India has opened its fourth dealership (first in South Mumbai) in Mumbai and plans to open 42 new dealerships by the year-end. Esskay Motors is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, and boasts a 8,500sqft showroom facility and a 18,000sqft workshop.

Fiat's existing lineup of cars will be displayed at the workshop. Currently Fiat has 108 dealerships in the country with the tally set to rise to 150 by the end of this year.

Fiat's line up of new cars which will be launched this year in India are on display at Esskay Motors from March 20-23. These include the Avventura and Abarth 500, both which were displayed at the Auto Expo 2014.

The Italian marque says that though the Avventura is based on an existing platform (Punto), it will be a made in India car and will be available only in right-hand drive at the moment. As and when the demand arises, Fiat India will also start exports of the Avventura. The 160PS Abarth 500 will be sold exclusively via Fiat dealers. Fiat is also planning to launch the Punto facelift in India soon. The  company grew by around 43 per cent during the period of April-December 2013.

Speaking on this occasion, Nagesh Basavanhalli, president and managing director of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India operationsaid, "FIAT India views Mumbai as a very strategic market and the inauguration of an exclusive dealership is in accordance with our strategy to capitalise on this potential. We are confident that our association with Esskay Motors will play a crucial role in identifying the customer base and enhancing customer experience in Mumbai."
