Taigun GT Line & GT Plus Sport. Sportier. Darker. Robust.

Volkswagen has seen great success since the launch of the Taigun and Virtus. The sedan segment which was saturated got a fresh perspective from the Virtus and the SUVW segment also got an eligible contender in the Taigun. The brand is looking to democratize their vehicles with the wide range of variants and trims available, and wants to make the GT badge accessible to all those who aspire for it.

Volkswagen's annual brand conference saw a slew of product launches beginning with the two new variants of the Taigun and also a Virtus concept in a dark themed outfit, promising that the Virtus is next in line to arrive with a similar approach. The globally acclaimed ID.4 was also showcased in India for the first time reassuring us about the upcoming electrification plans Volkswagen has in its books for us.

The variants on the Taigun have been divided into three trim plans to present customers with a unique design persona of each line marking a visual differentiation and appeal of each trim. The trims have been narrowed down to three plans, namely 'GT Edge', 'Chrome' and 'Sport'.

  • The GT Edge line will offer the exclusive and coveted Edge Collection with both Matte and Black exterior paint options.
  • The 'Chrome' line will have the 1.5l TSI EVO in 7-speed DSG and 6-Speed manual options, and also the 1.0l TSI in 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual options.
  • The new 'Sport' line comes with a reimagined dark styled sporty identity and will be presented in the 1.5l EVO TSI GT Plus Sport and the 1.0l TSI GT Line variant, with the same transmission options as the 'Chrome' line.

The introduction of various design elements accentuate the Taigun's sporty aesthetic and robust performance. The Taigun GT Plus Sport variant comes in a dark avatar with touches of red accents all over.

19 exterior and 14 Interior enhancements beginning with 17 inch dark chrome alloy wheels and black LED headlamps along with red GT badging and brake callipers give it quite the racy vibe. The interiors will also see red accents all over making it quite an experience to sit inside the Taigun GT Plus Sport.

The GT Line on the other hand shows aesthetic changes and introduces black as a theme across all colour options, differentiating it from the rest. With the 1.0l TSI engine, this variant makes the GT badge accessible to a wider customer base who aspire for the GT badge. That's not all, the GT Line also comes with 6 Airbags as standard being true to the 5 stars that the Taigun achieved on the GNCAP crash test.
