realme GT 7 Dream Edition Review: All Torque, No Talk

Let's get this straight realme hasn't exactly been the go-to name in India's premium smartphone space. It's always been about value, not aspiration. But the GT 7 Dream Edition, co-created with none other than the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, changes that narrative almost instantly.
Right from the unboxing, you get a sense of intent. The packaging alone is an experience. The limited edition co-branded box opens with winged flaps inspired by the Aston Martin 'Silver Wing' emblem. Inside sits the GT 7 Dream Edition in a gorgeous Aston Martin Racing Green, finished with a rich 5-layer paint job that carries depth, sheen, and unmistakable F1 DNA. There are aerodynamic flow lines carved into the back panel, adding to the tactile grip and giving the phone an unmistakably sporty silhouette. You even get a racecar inspired SIM ejector tool and a custom Silver Wing case with little details that elevate the entire package.

Performance & Display: Pure Speed, Refined Power
Under the hood, this phone doesn't mess around. It packs the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chip, based on the 4nm TSMC process, and the performance is every bit as sharp as the spec sheet promises. The CPU setup (1×X4 @ 3.4GHz, 3×X4 @ 2.85GHz, 4×A720 @ 2.0GHz) and Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU with hardware Ray Tracing support ensure that whether you're pushing graphic heavy games or running demanding apps, the GT 7 handles it all without thermal throttling or noticeable slowdowns. The phone did not heat up at all, not during benchmarking, nor during gaming.
The 16GB RAM + 512GB UFS storage configuration means there's zero bottlenecking, even with a dozen apps and games in the background. During my gaming tests, there were no frame drops in Call of Duty: Mobile, Genshin Impact or PUBG at max settings, and the haptics feel precise and punchy, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Please note that Genshin can make any flagship device sweat, this one just rendered everything so smoothly.
The 6.78-inch AMOLED panel is another highlight, vivid, sharp, and super-responsive. With a 2780×1264 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a touch sampling rate up to 2600Hz, this is among the most responsive panels in the segment. Peak brightness hits 6000 nits, which is insane and makes the display legible even in blinding sunlight. You also get HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support for OTT content, and the contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 ensures deep blacks and striking highlights.

Camera System: Close, but Not Perfect
The GT 7 Dream Edition features a triple rear camera setup:
Main: 50MP Sony IMX906 Sensor (1/1.56", f/1.8)

Telephoto: 50MP Samsung S5KJN5 Sensor (1/2.8", f/2.0)

Ultra-wide: 8MP OV08D10 Sensor (1/4", f/2.2)

Photos from the main sensor are well-detailed with good contrast and balanced color tones. The telephoto camera is genuinely useful for portrait shots and short-range zooms with crisp results. However, the ultra-wide camera does feel like an afterthought; it gets the job done but lacks sharpness and dynamic range, especially in low-light conditions. I ended up using the cine filters a lot, because they were too good and fun to play around with for portraits and especially for street photography. Love it!

Now let's talk about video: yes, it can shoot up to 4K at 120fps, supports Dolby Vision, and even has a dedicated underwater mode thanks to the IP69 rating (a rarity in smartphones). Front video also supports 4K at 60fps, which is great. But here's the catch: video stabilization could use more tuning. When you're moving fast or panning aggressively, there's noticeable shake and jitter, especially in low-light scenarios. So, while the video quality is solid on paper, the EIS needs more polish to match flagship standards.
The camera also has a custom Aston Martin watermark that subtly adds a touch of exclusivity to your frames, nice if you're into that sort of thing.

Battery, Charging & Connectivity
This device is a true endurance machine. With a massive 7000mAh Titan battery, it easily lasts more than a day and a half with heavy usage. And when it's time to charge, the 120W SUPERVOOC fast charging brings it back to life in just about 30 minutes. That's hypercar-level refueling. I have kept the phone on idle without the charge for the last three days and it's still at 71% Battery.
Connectivity options are top-tier too: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-band GPS (L1 + L5), 360° NFC, and support for dual nano SIMs + eSIM. It's ready for global travel and high-speed connectivity.

Software & Realme's Intent
Running on a custom realme UI built on Android 15, the experience is clean and fairly well-optimized. There's a bit of bloatware initially, but nothing that a little cleanup can't fix. Animations are fluid, and system-level transitions feel snappy.
More than the software, though, what really stands out is Realme's intent. This isn't just another spec-heavy device, it's a calculated swing at redefining the brand's premium identity. And for the most part, it lands.

Verdict: Almost a Flagship, Truly a segment killer
Let's be honest: Realme hasn't been seen as a premium player in India. But this phone makes a solid case to rethink that image. For what you're paying, the GT 7 Dream Edition is an incredible value. You get flagship-grade hardware, a bold design co-created with Aston Martin, serious performance chops, and a battery life that's hard to beat.
Sure, there are small gaps, it's not quite a flagship killer just yet. The fit and finish could be tighter, and the camera software needs a bit more polish. But for Indian consumers looking for a spec monster that looks and feels premium, this phone over delivers in almost every department.
Available in 16GB+512GB variant on amazon and mainline stores at 49,990/-
This is Realme putting its best foot forward and honestly? It's working.
