Product review: Race Dynamics PowerTRONIC ECU
The Indian motorcycle industry only upgraded to fuel-injected motorcycles recently. However, the aftermarket performance industry is rapidly growing. Bangalore based, Race Dynamics, better known for their performance EC U's for cars have now teamed up with Race Concepts to develop a standalone EC U for Indian fuel-injected motorcycles.
We decided to install it on our long term Yamaha YZF-R15. The replacement EC U is a compact unit and is easy to install. The stock EC U under the seat is replaced with the Race dynamics EC U in less than a minute. The EC U is available in two models, Powertronic RR and RS . The RS features a locked map with pre-tuned mapping for street use, while the RR is the all-out version. We tested the RS , our long term bike being a stock R15.
The stock R15 clocks 100kmph in 13.2 seconds. With the Race Dynamics EC U we were able to shave more than a second, the bike hitting the ton in 12.1 seconds. The check light and overheat indicator on the dash work as a shift light for perfect gearshifts at 10,600rpm, and the bike also revs right upto 12,300rpm as against 10,500rpm on a stock R15.
