In order to build on the company's leadership position in China, the world's largest auto market, Tim Lee will hold for 12 joint ventures, two wholly owned foreign enterprises and more than 55,000 employees in GM China. Lee has spent nearly four years in charge of GM's International Operations. He will continue in his role as Executive Vice President Global Manufacturing.

Stefan Jacoby, most recently the CEO of Volvo Cars, will become Executive Vice President Consolidated International Operations, leading the company's operations in more than 100 countries and territories in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. Jacoby stepped down as Volvo CEO late last year after suffering a mild stroke. During a 30-year automotive career, he has had key positions at Mitsubishi and Volkswagen. He was CEO of Mitsubishi Europe and headed Volkswagen US.

GM is an auto giant on a global scale and its customer focus and momentum are two reasons for the shuffle in its management team. Along with its joint venture partners, GM produces vehicles, engines, transmissions and components in 168 manufacturing plants in more than 30 countries on six continents.

"I'm excited to join a company that's delivering beautiful, high-quality and fascinating vehicles and is committed to improving the total customer experience. The GM team has plans to win in every market, and I'm eager to contribute," said Jacoby.
