The highlight of the unveiling are the two concept tractors - electric and hydrostatic. Heavy load equipment like a tractor benefit the most when shifted to electrical. A tractor requires large amount of torque. The inherent character of an electric motor to provide peak value of torque constantly right from zero rpm is what makes it so befitting in a tractor.

The second concept is the hydrostatic tractor concept. Unlike a traditional tractor that uses a gearbox transmission, hydrostatic tractors use a hydrostatic transmission, which essentially has a rotor and a stator engulfed in viscous fluid. This eliminates the use of clutch and provides for a linear and smooth transmission. Although these are still in concept stage, Escorts said that they are really looking forward to exploring the possibilities with a working prototype.

Apart from these two concepts, Escorts also unveiled a range of tractors that will be available globally. These tractors will carry the Farmtrac & Powertrac branding and will have power output ranging between 22-90hp. This range includes the New Escorts Tractor Series (NETS) which are high power tractors (70-90hp) and compact tractors producing 22-30hp. Also in the range are dual-purpose crossover tractors and tractors with cabin options. All these tractors come with CRDi engines that are compliant with tier 4 emission norms.

Escorts believes that with the farmers adapting to new generation farming techniques, its is nothing but natural to make farming equipment advanced through consistent innovation. This range will cater to their customers in the US, Europe, Africa and ASEAN countries along with those in India. The hydrostatic and CRDi models might go on sale early next year. However, launch details for the electric tractor are unknown as of yet.
