EICMA 2018: Energica Bolid-E electric cafe racer unveiled

Electric and connected mobility is the buzz word as many automobile manufacturers have been working to offer the combined benefits of it. Samsung Electronics Italia, has teamed up with Energica Motor Company S.p.A. on a new project called Smart Ride. Through this project, both the brands have offered connectivity through NFC and Bluetooth between Samsung Galaxy Watch and the Energica motorbike. The bike also gets intelligent mirrors and head-up displays consist of two Samsung Galaxy A series devices integrated into mirrors which, thanks to the videos generated by the two cameras (front and rear) positioned on the motorbike, analyse images in real time apart from warning the rider of any hazards and obstacles ahead.

The companies mention that the prototype conceived by Energica Motor Company for Smart Ride, a project born out of close collaboration with Samsung Electronics Italia, has been designed starting from the electric cafe racer-style Eva EsseEsse9. The result is Bolid-E, a futuristic speed machine, which promises a new way of experiencing a motorbike. The connectivity app that has been specially designed for this electric bike displays the position of the bike on map along with displaying real time average consumption, the power supplied, information on the journey such as total and partial (TRIP) odometer and performance of the vehicle (speed, torque, power and RPM). In terms of safety, users can use their Samsung smartwatch to locate the bikes in a parking lot using the horn function that is also a deterrent for criminals.
