Dacia Hipster Electric Concept debuts globally
Dacia has officially revealed the Hipster Electric Concept. The concept has been developed from scratch to embody Dacia's idea of "essential mobility". Dacia aims to:
- Half the carbon footprint compared to the current four-seater electric vehicle.
- Represent the brand's existing affordable EV, the Spring.

The Dacia Hipster Concept retains the company's lightweight design and is 20 per cent lighter than the Dacia Spring EV. The key specifications include a 100 per cent electric powertrain, a length of 3,000mm, a width of 1,550mm, a height of 1,530mm, and an adjustable boot capacity of 70L-500L.
The Hipster is 20 per cent lighter than the Dacia Spring with designed for two recharges per week.
In terms of design, the car's styling carries a boxy profile, with no front or rear overhangs and wheels positioned at all four corners. The front end carries sleek headlights, while the rear gets a split tailgate.
The car uses Starkle® side cladding, made partially from recycled materials and replaces traditional door handles with strap-style pull handles.
In terms of interior, the car maximises space with a cubic layout, vertical windows and a glazed roof section. The seats offer a front bench seat, mesh-fabric upholstery and adjustable rear seats.
In terms of technology, the Hipster Concept follows Dacia's Bring Your Own Device(BYOD) philosophy.
Instead of an inbuilt infotainment system, a smartphone docking station serves as the main control hub, allowing access to navigation, media and connectivity.
The smartphone also functions as a digital key to unlock and start the car, while the portable Bluetooth speaker integrates with the YouClip® accessory system for a customisable interior setup. While Dacia has not yet announced production or market plans for the Hipster Concept, its dimensions and design could make it a strong rival to the MG Comet EV if introduced in India.
