COVID19 impact: Carmakers extend warranty and free service periods
The second wave of the COVID19 pandemic has struck the country hard, and most states have issued orders restricting non-essential movement. This has caused dealerships and service centres to largely remain shut, leading to possibly missed free services and lapsed warranties. To tide over this, many major carmakers have announced extensions of warranties and free service periods for those owners whose cover was to lapse while restrictions are in force.
Maruti Suzuki
Applicable lapse period: March 15, 2021 to May 31, 2021
Extended to: June 30, 2021
Renault
Applicable lapse period: April 1, 2021 and May 31, 2021
Extended to: July 31, 2021
Tata Motors
Applicable lapse period: April 1, 2021 and May 31, 2021
Extended to: June 30, 2021
Toyota
Applicable lapse period: Not specified but during restrictions
Extended to: One month of lapse
MG Motor India
Applicable lapse period: April and May 2021
Extended to: July 31, 2021
All of these carmakers are still offering road-side assistance services and have a full network of online service portals for customer care support.
