You can now hire an electric car to drive around at just Rs 800 a day. Mahindra-Reva has announced a strategic partnership with Carzonrent to launch India's first electric vehicle in the self-drive car hire category. The Mahindra Reva e2o is the latest addition to Carzonrent's self-drive car hire fleet available in New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.
The Mahindra Reva e2o is an all-electric, zero emission car equipped with an automatic transmission with Boost Mode for quick acceleration and a range of 100 kilometres.

Initially, each of the abovementioned cities will have a fleet strength of five e2os, and the service will be expanded to all metropolitan cities. This partnership also claims to improve the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in India. Charging points will be provided at convenient locations that can be availed free of cost by Carzonrent's Mahindra Reva e2o self-drive customers.
The organised self-drive market is still small. But owing to increasing costs of chauffeurs, better roads and availability of navigation facility, the demand is increasing.
On their partnership with Carzonrent, Chetan Maini, CEO, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. said, "Our association with Carzonrent will bring Mahindra e2o and the concept of 'Mobility as a service' together, giving customers an opportunity to realise the endless benefits associated with this innovative solution. We have observed that a 10 minute test drive is not sufficient for customers to experience the convenience and benefits of an electric car. Hence this association will allow customers to use the e2o for a few hours or days and get an insight into this new and exciting next generation hassle free mobility solution."
"With the inclusion of Mahindra e2o in our self-drive fleet, we are bringing forth an eco-friendly initiative in the Indian travel market. At one third the cost compared to other self-drive cars, the e2o will be a game changer in the self-drive business model and will provide a complete new experience to the city commuters," said Rajiv Kr Vij, Managing Director & CEO, Carzonrent (I) Ltd.
