BMW has launched the BMW X5 M Competition in India. The performance SUV is the flagship of the X5 range and is priced at Rs 1.95 crore, ex-showroom. The X5 M can be booked online or at a BMW dealership. All customers of the SUV will also get a complimentary membership to the BMW Excellence Club while those booking online will get a stay from BMW Excellence Club in collaboration with Isprava luxury villas.

The highlight of the X5 M Competition is the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that puts out 625PS at 6,000 rpm and a 750 Nm between 1,800 – 5,600 rpm. This gives the X5 M a 0 to 100 kmph time of 3.8s and a limited top-speed of 250 kmph. This pairs with the eight-speed gearbox with the three shift programs, the M-tuned xDrive AWD system and the active rear differential, all spruced up by BMW's performance arm. Other mechanical upgrades specific to this SUV is the adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers, active roll stabilization system, a new M steering setup and brakes with two pedal feel settings. A Track drive mode has also been added.

Visual upgrades to the X5 M to match the performance on offer are larger air intakes on the bumper, roof and tailgate spoilers and M-specific 21-inch front and 22-inch rear alloy wheels. On the inside, the interior has been fiddled with by M. This shows up in the M leather steering wheel's red preset buttons and the sportier seats with integrated headrests. The standard features list includes adaptive LED lighting, HUD with M-specific displays, an access mode for the boot, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control and voice assistance, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and Harman Kardon sound system.

Optionally available is laser lighting, light patterns on the panoramic sunroof, double glazed windows, ambient air package, Bower and Wilkins audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system. Customisation options from BMW Individual are also available. The X5 M Competition is offered in seven standard paint choices and two optional ones from BMW Individual. A black merino leather interior is standard with six optional choices available with Alcantara headlining.

BMW is also offering the X5 M Competition with a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Tjis includes cruise control with a braking function that includes collision/pedestrian warning and automatic braking in city driving. There is lane departure, centring and lane-change assistance, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, assistance during evasive manoeuvres and emergency stops.

The BMW X5 M competes most closely with the Audi RS Q8 and Mercedes-AMG G 63. Read our review of the BMW X5 M here.
