The BMW X3 M40i has been launched in India, with pricing beginning at Rs. 86.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The model, which will come into India via CBU, will be offered in limited quantities. The X3 M40i is the X3 SUV's performance variant, and it shares its powerplant with the BMW M340i sedan. Bookings for the X3 M40i are now open with a nominal fee of Rs 5 lakh.

Aside from the full-blown M variant, the BMW X3 M40i is the sportiest version of the X3. A sporty body upgrade with a more aggressive front bumper with wider vents, dual-tone 20-inch M light alloy wheels, twin exhausts, and M-specific ORVMs are included. The X3 M40i is available in Brooklyn Grey and Black Sapphire.

The M Sport differential, adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, gesture control, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, Head-Up Display (HUD), automatic start-stop function, active air-stream kidney grille, and Drive modes (Comfort, Eco Pro, Sport, and Sport+) are also notable features of the new BMW X3 M40i.

The vehicle is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 360PS and 500Nm of torque and is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The X3 M40i can go from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds and reach a peak speed of 250kmph.

Inside, the X3 M40i features an M-specific leather steering wheel with multifunction, contrast stitching in M colours, electrical seat adjustment with memory function, M Seat belts, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting three-zone automatic climate control, paddle shifters, cruise control with braking function, and Automatic Differential Brakes (ADB) with electronic differential locks as standard, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, BMW 7.0 OS, wireless charging, parking assist plus, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon-sourced music system.

Six airbags, an Antilock Braking System (ABS) with brake assist, Attentiveness Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), an electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, an electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, Dynamic braking lights, ISOFIX child seat mounting, and an integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor are among the safety features provided by BMW.

The X3 M40i rivals the Porsche Macan S in India even though the Porsche is priced at Rs 1.43 crore, which is significantly higher than its BMW counterpart, but both SUVs are quite comparable performance-wise.
