BMW R18 Transcontinental launched in India, priced at Rs 31.50 lakh
BMW Motorrad has launched the R18 Transcontinental in India at a price tag of Rs 31.50 lakh. The retro R18 tourer comes to India as a completely built-up unit (CBU).
The BMW R18 cruiser is available in three distinct models: R18, R18 Classic, and the R18 Transcontinental, which has cast alloy wheels, a big handlebar-mounted fairing with a windshield, wind deflectors, and a seat for the passenger.
The R18 Transcontinental was created to be a replica of the traditional American touring bike. It has a teardrop-shaped gasoline tank with double pinstripes, circular mirrors, and an exposed gloss nickel-plated driveshaft. It is built on a twin cradle frame.
The 1,802cc, air/oil-cooled flat twin engine that powers the R18 Transcontinental produces 91PS and 158Nm. This brand's most powerful boxer engine is currently in production. Moreover, it receives the R18's exposed shaft drive and six-speed gearbox.
Three typical riding modes are available on the bike: Rock, Roll, and Rain. Adaptive LED headlights, Active Cruise Control, Automated Stability Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, Hill Start Control, Keyless Ride, and a 10.25-inch TFT colour display are some more amenities.
The R18 Transcontinental has a traditional retro tourer appearance, but it also has a full complement of technology, including Active Cruise Control (ACC) and Dynamic Engine Brake Control (DEBC). While riding downhill, DEBC aids in maintaining a fixed pace, while ACC assists in controlling speed by utilizing radar to check for traffic up ahead.
