BMW M340i, XM, and S1000RR to be launched in India tomorrow
BMW is all set to launch the new XM, M340i, and 2023 S1000RR in India tomorrow. The M340i has received a mid-life facelift alongside the 3 Series (G20), while the 2023 S1000RR, too, gets significant updates over the previous model. Notably, the XM is not only the standalone M model but is also the first plug-in hybrid M vehicle.
The M340i xDrive
The sporty M340i xDrive features similar changes as the facelifted 3 Series. For instance, the sporty M-badged saloon gets a mildly updated kidney grille, redesigned aggressive front and rear bumpers, inverted L-shaped daytime driving lights, and new wheels.
Inside, the facelift has brought a handful of significant changes to the saloon in the form of the new single-piece curved display unit, consisting of a 12.3-inch driver display and 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. The screens now run on BMW's eighth-generation iDrive OS system. Meanwhile, BMW has also redesigned the centre console and dashboard.
The high-performance M340i packs a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. This motor is capable of producing 374PS and 500Nm of torque. Mated to the engine are an eight-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive all-wheel drive.
2023 S1000RR
The 2023 Bavarian two-wheeler flagship S1000RR made its global debut a couple of months ago. The model bears a slew of significant updates over its predecessor in the form of updated chassis, suspension, and aerodynamics.
It carries forward more or less the same bodywork, including a dual-pod headlamp setup, and unique daytime driving lights. For 2023, however, the S1000RR features front winglets, a reworked tail section, redesigned windscreen, and a new adjustable pivot for the swingarm, along with a few additional features.
Powering the S1000RR is a 999cc, four-cylinder petrol engine. Thanks to the tuned-up motor, the motorcycle makes 210PS at 13,750rpm, while the torque output stands at 113Nm.
The XM
The quirky design language and angular body panels, along with a large grille, are the highlights of the XM. It also gets the split headlights reminiscent of the iX and new X7. The aggressive taillights, vertical quad exhaust tips, and BMW insignia at either top corner of the rear window dominate the rear profile of the hybrid SUV. It features a set of 23-inch wheels too.
The XM's interior is outfitted with the same single-panel curved display, comprising a 12.3-inch driver screen and 14.9-inch central information hub, bundled with BMW iDrive OS 8. Other features include a heads-up display, a Bowers and Wilkins hi-fi sound system, M Sport seats, M steering wheel, among others.
The XM gets a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine linked to a 29.5kWh battery pack and an electric motor. The hybrid system is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine and plug-in hybrid system together produce 662PS and 800Nm of torque. Meanwhile, it can sprint from zero to 100kmph in just 4.3 seconds and tops out at 270kmph.
