Audi has revealed the Q5 e-tron SUV at the 2021 Auto Guangzhou motor show in China. The Audi Q5 e-tron does resemble the Volkswagen ID.6 but is a whole lot more premium in order to keep up with the Audi badge it represents.

The Q5 e-tron follows in the footsteps of its smaller sister, the Q4 e-tron, in terms of design. At the front, the new electric SUV has a single-frame grille that is covered and flanked by angular headlights.

The front bumper also has triangular intakes. Front and rear fenders have dynamic design lines, and slender LED taillights are joined by a full-width light bar. Large dual-tone alloy wheels characterise the sides.

The new Q5 e-tron's measurements are 4,876mm in length, 1,860mm in width, 1,675mm in height, and a 2,965mm wheelbase. The overall length and wheelbase of the Q5 e-tron are equal to those of the Volkswagen ID 6.

In China, the Q5 e-tron will be available in three different configurations. The entry-level 35 model will have rear-wheel drive exclusively and include a 182PS electric motor and a 55kWh battery. The 40 will be the mid-spec model, with a stronger 206PS electric motor and a bigger 83.4kWh battery.

Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line 50 model will include a dual-motor arrangement with 305PS and all-wheel drive and the same battery as the 40 variant. The Audi Q5 e-tron, according to Audi, has a maximum range of 560 kilometres and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 6.7 seconds.

The inside of the Q5 e-tron is nearly identical to that of the Q4 e-tron. An 11.5-inch central touchscreen entertainment system with linked technology, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a slew of additional features and equipment are included in the electric SUV. The Q5 e-tron has a three-row arrangement that can accommodate 6 to 7 passengers.

The MEB-based Q5 e-Tron will stay exclusive to China, while the more advanced Q6 e-Tron will be available throughout Europe and North America. Audi India has added a range of electric vehicles to their portfolio in the country like the Audi e-tron SUV, Audi e-tron Sportback, Audi e-tron GT and Audi RS e-tron GT.
