Audi A3 rolls out from Aurangabad

Set to be be launched in India on August 7, the Audi A3 has already begun rolling out from Audi India's Aurangabad plant. The facility currently manufactures the A4, A6, Q3, Q5 and Q7.

The Audi A3 comes with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. The 180PS 1.8l TFSI motor is a familiar unit and makes 250Nm of torque. The 2.0l TDI makes 143PS of power and 320Nm. While the petrol engine is mated to an S-tronic 7-speed automatic box, the diesel will be fitted with a 6-speed S-tronic box.

Audi's A3 will compete with the Mercedes-Benz A- and B-Class and BMW's 1 Series. It will also offer competition to executive sedans from Volkswagen, Toyota and Skoda.

After the Audi A6, the Audi A4, the Audi Q5, the Audi Q7 and the Audi Q3, the Audi A3 Sedan will be the sixth model to be produced at the plant. The Audi A3 Sedan will be launched in the Indian market soon. The Audi A3 will be produced at the group plant koda Auto India Private Limited (SAIPL) in Aurangabad, in a specially designated hall which covers a floor area of 20,000 square meters (215,278 square feet).
