Audi A3 Cabriolet image gallery
The A3's hatless sibling comes with a retractable soft top which can be deployed within 18 seconds even when the car is on the move at speeds upto 50kmph. The car also shares most of its component and features with its sedan counterpart. Priced at Rs 44.75 lakh, ex-Delhi, it's expected to be a less-serious, more-fun take on the entry level luxury sedan contender from Audi. Watch out for a full review in the February issue of OVERDRIVE. Till then, take a look at the images of this hot-red number we got to drive.
The A3's retractable top may not be as quick as the R8 Spyder, but is a second quicker than the BMW
Wind noise at highway speeds isn't too high and you wish the engine had a better soundtrack
The car's chassis feels flexible around bends though and the front wheel drive configuration doesn't help either
The roof is a fabric-type and is only offered in black
The use of an all-black theme actually works well for the convertible
The soft-top retracting mechanism takes a toll on the boot space too, reducing it to 320 litres. Good enough for a short weekend
Audi insists that this is a four seater, but the rear seat is only good for kids or adults with a small frame. Look how crammed in our Rohit Paradkar appears in the backseat here
It's powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine that puts out 178PS between 5,100 and 6,200rpm
With 17-inch wheels shod by the low-profile 225/45 section tyres, the topless A3 manages to look very sporty
The presence of an AT means you aren't going to be elbowing your co-passenger frequently
The A3 cruises effortlessly and there is adequate power to put a smile on your face when you put the pedal to the metal
The Cabriolet managed to return an overall fuel economy of 12.01kmpl with the roof down in our test drive
