Aston Martin to field Hydrogen-powered Rapide at 24 Hours of Nurburgring
This is the Aston Martin Rapide S with a hydrogen heart and the British company will be debuting it at the gruelling 24 Hours of Nurburgring 24 Hours of Nurburgring this year. Scheduled to be the first zero emissions sports car to compete in an international event, the Rapide S boasts of a twin turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine which can run on pure hydrogen, petrol or a mix of both. Aston claims that in petrol mode, the Rapide S will climb from 0-100kmph in just 4.9 seconds and have a lofty top speed of 308kmph.
Developed in conjunction with Alset Global, Aston aims to show the world the reliability and safety of hydrogen technology. There are four high strength carbon hydrogen tanks in total in the car, two besides the driver and the remaining in the boot.
