Aston Martin reveals AMR24 F1 car alongside Vantage GT3

Aston Martin has been quite busy in these last few days as they debuted the facelifted Vantage and alongside that, they also took the opportunity to showcase the AMR24, their Formula 1 challenger for the upcoming season and also the Vantage GT3 that will contest in GT racing.

F1 legend Fernando Alonso will continue along with Lance Stroll for Aston. So while the drivers sitting behind the wheel remain unchanged, the same can't be said about the car.

Team Principal, Mike Krack said "Almost every area of the car has been refined and improved, building on our strengths and taking on board the lessons of the previous campaign. 2023 was our best season to date and our goal this season is to score regular points, podiums, and fight for our first win in green."

The front wing shape has been revised to assist manage the front wheel wake more effectively. The current age of F1 rules places a strong focus on the floor and sidepod designs. On the AMR24, the sidepods and bodywork have been overhauled to better airflow management around the floor and over the rear wing.

"The floor is the biggest area of downforce generation on an F1 car and it's constantly being evolved. Getting it right will be of paramount importance to our success in 2024," Dan Fallows, Technical Director said. He further added "Work has been done on both ends of the car on the suspension. The front will work more efficiently alongside the front wing, and aero work has been done at the rear to optimise our layout in that area."

The AMR24 will use a push-rod suspension system both front and back. This connects the wheel assembly to the chassis by a diagonal construction with a higher point on the car's body. The front suspension has been modified to boost performance in conjunction with the front wing and floor, while the rear suspension has been optimized to maximize airflow efficiency around the rear wing, allowing for Mercedes' newest power unit and gearbox.

Aston Martin Vantage GT3

The Vantage GT3 is a complete evolution of the very successful and recently discontinued Vantage GTE and GT3 models, which debuted in 2018. The Vantage GT3, which shares its mechanical architecture with the new Vantage road car, is based on Aston Martin's proven bonded aluminium chassis structure and is built to meet all FIA GT3 class standards, including the new-for-2024 LMGT3 category.

The new Vantage GT3 is the first collaboration between Aston Martin Racing (AMR) and Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT). As with its predecessor, it will compete at the top of the GT series in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship (IMSA), Fanatec GT World Challenge, European Le Mans Series (ELMS), Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS), British GT Championship, and Japanese Super GT Championship.

The redesigned nose is one of the most distinctive characteristics of the Vantage GT3. The road car's new bigger grille aperture not only looks great, but it also allows AMR to increase the amount of ducted cooling air to the brakes, resulting in more consistent performance for drivers.

The nose is a big one-piece clamshell composed of carbon fibre. It has a quick-release design for easy removal and replacement in the case of a mid-race collision, as well as full-width laser light and a shorter splitter, which pushes the centre of pressure rearwards to minimize pitch sensitivity and improve stability.
