The car is the first product under the the British carmaker's Second Century plan and was showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, earlier this year. The Aston Martin DB11 sportscar features a new lighter, stronger, aluminium bonded structure. The designers have used a new approach to styling while staying true to the basic design cues of an Aston Martin. The long, front-hinged clamshell bonnet is claimed to be the longest on any production car. The roof-strakes flow neatly from the A to the C-pillar while merging seamlessly into the stubby rear section.

Now, this is a sports car and you'd be wondering where are the fins and spoilers that are required to keep the car pinned to the ground. To keep the overall look uncluttered, Aston Martin has cleverly used aerodynamics to prevent front and rear-end lift. The side-strakes, for instance, feature special vents to remove high-pressure air from the inside of the wheel-arch, thereby reducing front-end lift. To curb rear-end lift, Aston Martin has used its virtual spoiler, dubbed the Aeroblade. There are air-intakes at the base of each C-Pillar that feed air onto the Aeroblade, thus generating downforce.

The DB11 is powered by a 5.2-litre twin-turbo, V12 engine that develops 608PS and 700Nm. These figures translate to a 0-100kmph time of 3.9 seconds and top speed of 322kmph. The engine also features cylinder-bank deactivation and start-stop technology to maximise fuel-efficiency when driving around at city speeds. The motor is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. There are three driving modes - GT, Sport and Sport Plus. There's a stepwise increase in engine response as well as damper stiffness from GT to Sport Plus, says Aston Martin.

The interior features a new design approach too. Simple and elegant is what comes to mind when you look at it. The 12-inch TFT LCD instrument panel and 8-inch infotainment system has been co-developed with Daimler. There's a rotary control to operate the infotainment system and customers can also opt for a touchpad with gesture control. The infotainment system also features auto-park assist and a 360-degree camera which provides a bird's eye view of the car, while parking in tight spaces.
