The all-new Suzuki V-Strom 800DE has been spotted testing in India for the first time. The adventure motorcycle is a successor to the on-sale V-Strom 650XT. In November 2022, the Japanese bike maker unveiled the new V-Strom 800DE alongside the GSX-8S at the 2022 EICMA. While it has already been introduced in some international markets, the India launch is likely to take place sometime later this year.

Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Spy shots and Design

The new V-Strom 800DE spied in India is partly camouflaged, albeit the bike is already revealed globally and hence we know its design. However, the test mule was spotted with a large saree guard, hinting at the motorcycle was an Indian-spec model. That said, the new V-Strom 800DE, which replaces the V-Strom 650XT in the Suzuki's line-up, features a fresh design. It gets dual-LED headlamps, sharp cuts and creases on the fuel tank and tank extensions, a beak that adjoins the fuel tank extensions, an adjustable windscreen, a single-piece step-up seat, a side-slung exhaust, and wire-spoked wheels.

Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Engine and transmission

Powering the V-Strom 800DE is a new 776cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine. This new motor claims to deliver smooth power from low rpm to throughout its broad power band. It also debuted Suzuki Cross Balancer, a one-of-its-kind patented system that promises reduced vibrations and smooth operations. This engine 84.3PS at 8,500rpm and 78Nm of torque at 6,800rpm.

Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Electronics and hardware

The two-wheeler manufacturer has equipped the new V-Strom 800DE with various rider electronic aids and hardware, such as Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), switchable dual-channel ABS, riding modes, traction control, Gravel mode, bi-directional quick-shifter, ride-by-wire, low rpm assist, a five-inch TFT colour display, and a USB port. Further, the ADV gets a 20 litres of fuel tank and has a seat height of 855mm. Suzuki has also given it adjustable front USD forks, a rear monoshock, twin-disc setup at the front, and a single disc at the back.

Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Price and rivals

Unlike the current V-Strom 650XT, which costs around Rs 8.91 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), we expect the new V-Strom 800DE to be priced between Rs 12 to Rs 14 lakh. With this, the adventure motorcycle will compete against the likes of the BMW F 850 GS and Triumph Tiger 900 in India.
