All-new Hyundai i20 hatchback could feature Bose Premium Sound System in India

Hyundai India will be launching the third-gen iteration of its popular hatchback, the i20 by the end of this year. The company has already begun testing the hatch, after being revealed earlier this year. We believe Hyundai will launch the new-gen i20 in the festive season. While there is still some time for that, Hyundai Europe has announced the introduction of the Bose premium sound system in the international-spec all-new i20. Considering that Hyundai India's vehicle portfolio have always boasted of being feature-rich, we expect the company to launch the 2020 i20 with the Bose Premium Sound System.

All-new Hyundai could be launched in the festive season

The i20 hatchback has become the first from Hyundai to come with a Bose system, wherein engineers from Hyundai and Bose have collaborated on the design and tuning aspect of the eight-speaker system for an exceptional listening experience, claims the manufacturer. Each speaker is designed to reproduce a specific set of low, mid-range, or high frequencies. On each front door, a Bose Super65 speaker offers impactful low-frequency performance. Bose mentions that the Super65 speakers play lower and louder than conventional 6.5-inch (165mm) speakers and combine with a 5.25-inch (130mm) neodymium woofer inside a custom-engineered enclosure mounted inside the i20's rear-left quarter panel to deliver rich bass throughout the cabin.

Further, clear and balanced sound reproduction is delivered by a 3.25-inch (80mm) neodymium mid-range Bose Twiddler speaker in the centre of the instrument panel and two 5.25-inch (130mm) wide-range speakers, one in each rear door. Higher frequencies are delivered through two 1-inch (25mm) neodymium tweeters, one in each quadrant cover. The system is driven by a Bose digital amplifier with eight channels of custom equalisation. In addition, the system is equipped with dynamic speed compensation technology, which monitors vehicle speed and automatically adjusts music levels.

Coming to the 2020 Hyundai i20 hatchback, it will get a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 120PS and 172Nm borrowed from the one seen in Venue. Attached to this, will be a 48V mild-hybrid system which will help to enhance the overall efficiency. Other engine options include a similar version of the 1.0-litre petrol with 99PS and without mild-hybrid technology and a 1.2-litre petrol present currently. We expect the prices of the new i20 to be around Rs 6.5-10 lakh ex-showroom when launched in India, being at par or a slight premium over the current model. The new i20 will rival the Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the recently launched Tata Altroz.
