All-electric Jeep Wagoneer S debuts with over 600 km of range

Jeep has revealed pictures of the impending all-electric Wagoneer S in its final manufacturing setup. The battery-powered Wagoneer was previewed a week ago and is likely to make its global premiere within the next several weeks. The Wagoneer S sits on the cutting-edge STLA Large platform, which was designed specifically for electric cars ranging in length from 4.7 to 4.9 meters.

The Wagoneer S incorporates cosmetic features from both the ICE-powered Wagoneer and previous Jeep models. For example, it receives a seven-slate grille that is now lit. The front grille is flanked by sleek LED headlights, while the bumper features a huge air dam and chrome inserts in the air splitters on each side.

There is also a radar sensor on the nose, as well as altered tailgate badging that just says "Jeep" rather than "Wagoneer." There's a new wheel design on exhibit as well, with not one but two spoilers on offer--one on the roof and one on the rear, both of which are intended to boost aerodynamics and range.

As previously stated, the Jeep Wagoneer S is constructed on the brand's STLA Large platform, which was just unveiled. The platform is designed as a BEV platform with 400-volt and 800-volt electric designs, although it can also accept hybrid powertrains. The Wagoneer S concept is supposed to have a range of up to 644 kilometres, a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 3.5 seconds, and up to 600 horsepower from a dual-motor arrangement that most likely includes all-wheel drive.

The cabin of the Wagoneer S will provide a modern and elegant driving experience. The dashboard is a standout feature, with four screens: a digital instrument display behind the steering wheel, a centre infotainment screen, a temperature control screen, and a passenger entertainment screen. Surprisingly, actual buttons are missing, with the exception of those on the steering wheel, in favour of a slick touchscreen interface.

Jeep also claims the Wagoneer S will get a "standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof" and an upgraded 19-speaker sound system. Jeep's 'Selec-Terrain' driving mode system is displayed in the centre console behind the gear selector, and it includes Sand, Snow, Eco, Auto, and Sport modes. Other features include a 360-degree camera, park assist, lane keep assist, heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, customizable ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and even a massage function for the front seats.

We suspect the Jeep Compass EV to be made available in a couple of years but that will possibly be on the STLA Medium platform. The Wagoneer S is highly doubtful for the Indian market. The Compass EV is still a long way ahead as Jeep will only bring that after they launch the new-gen Compass ICE in India.
