Abhishek Sharma gets Haval H9 SUV for his performance in Asia Cup
The Indian cricket team won its ninth Asia Cup title on 28th September 2025 by defeating Pakistan. And Abhishek Sharma has been awarded the Haval H9 SUV for his performance. But how much will it cost him to drive the Haval H9 SUV in India?

- Powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, petrol engine that comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox
- The engine pushes 214 PS and 380 Nm of peak torque
Considering the Haval H9 is not sold in India, Abhishek will have to import the SUV as a Completely Built Uniyt (CBU) which will attract some hefty taxations.
Duty breakdown (if CIF = USD 30,000 / ?25 lakh):
Basic Customs Duty (70%) - Rs 17 lakh
Agriculture Infrastructure & Development Cess (40%) - Rs 10 lakh
IGST (28% on tax base) - Rs 14 lakh
Compensation Cess (15% on tax base) - Rs 7.5 lakh
Total import duties & taxes - Rs 48-50 lakh
Landed cost in India - Rs 70-75 lakh (before state road tax/registration)
Case 2 (if CIF = USD 15,000 / ?12.5 lakh)
Total duties & taxes - Rs 25 lakh
Landed cost - Rs 37-40 lakh
Abhishek would need to pay about Rs 25-50 lakhs, just in central taxes depending upon the SUVs declared value. And if Abhishek registers the SUV in Punjab, the state levies 13 per cent motor vehicle tax on four-wheelers priced above Rs 25 lakh, along with a registration fees of Rs 1,200.
So if when the SUV lands in India and if the assumed landed cost is around Rs 75 lakh, then the road tax amounts to Rs 9.75 lakh and a registration fee of Rs 1,200. And that comes to a final on-road price of Rs 84.76 lakh. So, if Abhishek decides to drive it in India, he will have to pay 3x of its value in abroad.
In terms of powertrain, the Haval H9 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a 4WD system. The engine pushes 214 PS and 380 Nm of peak torque. It comes with seven terrain modes and front/rear differential locks.
The feature list includes wireless charging, 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10-speaker DTS audio system, a panoramic sunroof, along with ventilated and massage front seats to name a few. The safety net comprises of six-airbags, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera with transparent chassis view, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control to name a few.
Internationally, the Haval H9 comes with a sticker price of USD 30,000 (Rs 26.62 lakh)
