A Living Room with Wheels. Sharp LDK Plus Unveiled at 2025 Japan Mobility Show
Imagine this: you're stuck in Bangalore traffic, but instead of honking and sweating, you're reclining on a swivel seat, binge-watching your favourite web series on a giant projector while your car tells your washing machine back home to start the laundry. That's the dream Sharp is selling with its wild new LDK+ EV concept, unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show.

The Japanese tech giant, better known for TVs, purifiers and microwaves, decided last year that they wanted to make a car and is now taking the "smart home" idea straight to the streets. LDK stands for Living, Dining, Kitchen, and the LDK+ is literally that: a cozy, tech-loaded living space on wheels.

Inside, it's more living room than car. The driver's seat spins around 180° to face the rear, turning the cabin into a lounge. There's a fold-out table, built-in projector, and smart connectivity with Sharp's AIoT platform; so your car can chat with your AC, fridge and even your rooftop solar panels. Perfect for movie nights during monsoon power cuts!

Sharp says it envisions the LDK+ as your "third space" after home and office. And in a country like India, where people already hold full conversations, naps and snack breaks inside their cars, that sounds oddly familiar.

Built on a platform co-developed with Foxconn, the LDK+ also supports V2H (vehicle-to-home) power sharing. Imagine powering your house with your car during blackouts. Of course, Sharp hasn't revealed battery or range specs yet, but one thing's clear: this EV isn't just about driving, it's about vibing.

If this concept ever comes to India, we can already see it: parked by the beach in Goa, projector on, popcorn ready and into a full on movie night mode. However the fact that this car could be rented out as an apartment with a hefty rent amount might excite people in Mumbai. It is safe to say that if this concept comes to fruition, it would be cooler and plusher than quite a few living spaces people pay unspeakable amounts for.
